TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

Currently learning how to love better. Working at Channel Void (previously Future Dreamers), an online platform for human-centric sex education and giving people greater power over their mental health. Conversations around understanding life on Earth have always inspired me, which made me think I wanted to be a zookeeper growing up, but I’ve since realised my passion is just humanity. Also my taste in music doesn’t make a lot of sense and I’m working on finishing books I start.

WHERE DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

8 hours of sleep. 3 litres of water. Morning and nightly showers. My hunger in the mornings will usually meet fresh eggs around 11am or as of late, freshly squeezed OJ and a croissant first thing after I’m dressed, because gluten is fun sometimes. I usually try to spend an hour in conversation with friends or family before I start a work day to get my mind into a solutions-oriented space, and I’ll end more stressful days with a swim in the ocean. I always spend a few hours a day writing, mostly on my laptop or in my journal, but often in my Notes. Because each day is so different being a sort-of freelance? creative, I really rely on my rituals and evening routine. A day usually includes a Live Awake podcast, always includes my vitamins and skincare, and is always open to offers for walks, conversation or surfs with the people I love. Usually I have a pile of washing ready to hang out too.

WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST ROLE MODEL?

I’ve been spending a bit of time recently listening to Alan Watts. He’s inspired a lot of my thought patterns of late.

HOW DO YOU PRACTICE SELF CARE IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?

At the moment I’ve been focusing on  simplicity which allows me to really wholeheartedly love all of the parts of life that deserve it. Particularly the parts that challenge me the most. Being the owner of a hyper-active brain, I find it super important to make choices that conserve my energy and preserve a general state of peace for my actual soul. I’ve found a more conscious approach to physical activity, dancing/ walking/ running/ stretching in harmony with my period cycle and work stress, instead of my old method of punishing myself into attending Pilates classes I was too tired to go to. When I need to be insular I say no to new plans and retreat to my bedroom, blast my latest playlist creation and journal. I actually have learnt to love indulging in my insular time, it’s the cornerstone to being the person I want to be.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE SUMMER DESTINATION IN AUSTRALIA?

I live in Byron Bay so I’d be lying if I told you anywhere else. I’ve had the best days of my existence on the beaches and waterholes around this area, and otherworldly blissful evenings where I’m not even sure if my feet touch the ground, unashamedly tequila soaked. I love the movement of everything against the constancy of small town life. It’s challenging but beautiful in its own funny way.

WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR?

Literally everything. I process life in quite extreme ways and amounts because I think my soul had decided on a full life before it got here. I’m grateful to my body for doing it’s best to keep up. And to human beings for loving me through my messes and simply existing as themselves. Of course the Earth too, for holding it down and being the cure for chaotic mind matter. Fruit is everything.
