Yasmin immediately stood out with her inner glow, natural beauty and kind-
hearted nature. We spoke to Yasmin about her new career in modelling, what
she's grateful for and how she plans on spending her summer.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO MODELLING?
I struggled with the modelling industry’s lack of diversity and stereotypes it
promotes. However, my agent Nikki shares the same viewpoint as I do. This made
it easier to be a part of the industry as she also believes there needs to be a
promotion of body positivity, inclusiveness of ethnic culture and acceptance of
natural beauty. This is what I’m going to continue to encourage as a role model in
the modelling industry for both men and women.
WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING IF YOU WEREN'T A MODEL?
I’m also a university student alongside modelling currently. I’m finishing a bachelor
of Health Science and wanting to pursue a bachelor of a Dental Hygiene. With this
degree I want to enforce change and increase the wellbeing of individuals
especially from my home town back in South Africa. There is so much
unnecessary poverty and lack of hygiene third world countries experience and I
feel there needs to be a major encouragement to stop this.There needs to be
greater influence on the real world issues and not idealistic things that blind us
from the real problems we face and others face everyday.

WHAT'S YOUR IDEAL AUSTRALIAN SUMMER DESTINATION?
I haven’t travelled much at all and unfortunately COVID hasn’t made it any easier
but honestly I’m so in love with Byron Bay. The beaches and scenery there, it’s so
peaceful and inviting, that would be my ideal holiday summer destination.
WHAT'S YOUR GO-TO SUMMER UNIFORM?
I’m obsessed with wearing bikinis underneath a loose maxi dress. That seemsto be my go to lately and because it’s getting so warm, I’ve been at the beach
almost everyday.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU LIVE BY?
Being a woman in this society and even in the past has limited us in so manyways. But currently I live by independency. Never let anyone distract you from
your goal or make you feel limited because of your gender, body type or colour of
your skin. We are more powerful if we stand together than if we are apart.
WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR?
Im grateful for the way my parents allowed me to grow up and have influencedme along the way. As much as I wasn’t exposed to technology or the idealistic
realm of the 21st century, I’ve become more aware of what goes on behind the
scenes and how it affects our mind, body and soul. I see the full picture when I’m
present in a moment instead of trying to take photo of a moment that limits the
full picture.
